Hallo Sobat LMK, dalam rangka memperingati Hari Kartini. Kalian tau ga sih kenapa Hari Kartini itu diperingati setiap tanggal 21 April? Nah, supaya kalian ga asal ikut-ikutan memperingati aja, baca yuk penjelasan asal -usul peringatan Hari Kartini.

Raden Ajeng Kartini lahir pada tanggal 21 April 1839 di Jepara. Raden Ajeng Kartini keturunan Bupati Jepara sekaligus bangsawan. Saat itu Raden Ajeng Kartini lahir pada masa penjajahan. Raden Ajeng Kartini melihat perempuan-perempuan ditindas dan tidak diberikan kebebasan untuk mengembangkan bakatnya. Perempuan – perempuan pada jaman dahulu hanya diperbolehkan di dalam rumah mengurus pekerjaan rumah. Melihat penindasan terhadap perempun, poligami, pernikahan paksa, dan tidak adanya kesetaraan antara laki-laki dan perempuan, Raden Ajeng Kartini termotivasi untuk membebaskan dan mensejahterakan hak-hak wanita. Melalui suratnya yang dikirim oleh teman-temannya yang berisi tentang pemikiran-pemikiran untuk membebaskan perempuan-perempuan Indonesia. Saat usia Kartini 12 tahun, beliau bersekolah di ELS (Europese Lagere School) dimana Kartini belajar bahasa Belanda.  Kartini memiliki kegemaran belajar, salah satunya beliau sering membaca majalah, koran, dan buku-buku dari Eropa. Melalui membacalah Raden Ajeng Kartini tertarik dengam pemikiran perempuan-peremouan Eropa dan timbul pemikiran untuk menyetarakan gender dengan laki-laki. Saat usianya masih muda, Raden Ajeng Kartini dijodohkan. Raden Ajeng Kartini menerima perjodohan orang tuanya, tetapi dengan syarat diperbolehkan membangun sekolah untuk para perempuan dengan tujuan dapat membagikan ilmunya, sehingga ia dapat mewujudkan impiannya untuk kesetaraan emansipasi wanita. Semenjak itu, para perempuan memiliki hak untuk belajar dan bekerja, sehingga sudah tidak ada penindasan lagi terhadap wanita. Pada tanggal 17 September 1904, Raden Ajeng Kartini menghembuskan napas terakhirnya pada usi 25 tahun. Sepeninggalan Kartini, J.H. Abendanon yang merupakan Menteri Kebudayaan, Agama, dan Kerajinan Hindia Belanda mengumpulkan seluruh surat dari Kartini dan membuatnya menjadi sebuah buku berjudul Door Duisternis tot Licht yang artinya “Dari Kegelapan Menuju Cahaya” pada tahun 1911. Di tahun 1992 Balai Pustaka menerbitkan buku tersebut dalam bahasa Melayu dengan judul Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang. Kemudian tahun 1938, keluarlah Habis Gelap Terbitlah Terang versi Armijn Pane, yang merupakan sastrawan Pujangga Baru. Tulisan-tulisan kartini yang sangat menarik, dapat mengubah pemikiran-pemikiran Belanda terhadap pandangan perempuan pribumi. Maka, sejak tanggal 21 April selalu diperingati Hari Kartini untuk mengenang jasa dan peringatan hari lahir Raden Ajeng Kartini.

Nah, luar biasa sekali ya perjuangan Raden Ajeng Kartini. Untuk perempuan-perempuan Indonesia, jangan mudah menyerah dan selalu memiliki semangat tinggi dalam mewujudkan cita-cita ya. Karena, perempuan pada jaman dulu, sulit sekali mendapatkan kebebasan untuk belajar dan bekerja. Mimin harap, semoga perempuan-perempuan Indonesia dapat meneruskan jasa Raden Ajeng Kartini dan menghargai perjuangannya.
